Elegant Wedding Invitations

Order or Create Elegant Wedding Invitations

Elegant wedding invitations are typical of formal weddings, but can also be done with handmade invitations or invitations ordered for less-formal affairs. Elegant merely refers to the style in which the invitation is made: tasteful, fine and luxurious. Such invitations are usually without embellishments or if they are part of the design, there’s usually only one, like a charm or a decorative brad.

Presentation of the invitation usually falls on the side of simple but elegant. Traditional designs include single-panel invites that may feature an embossed border. Contemporary cards may be done in the fold-over format with maybe a gold-foil or pearlized border. The main feature of an elegant wedding invitation is a request that is written clearly, concisely, and according to wedding etiquette.

A wedding verse, such as from a favorite poem, song or quote, can go a long way in creating an elegant design. One mistake that some couples make is going overboard with a fancy font or theme, ultimately overwhelming the card. The alternative to this is a simple card that can be made more elegant through fine touches like a monogram.

Embossing is another way to create such a look. Even handmade cards can feature this popular raised effect, with a rubber stamp, a flower press, or a combination light box, stencil, and stylus. Craft stores carry all the tools needed for embossing and even blank cards with embossed borders. From stationers, you’ll likely find a good selection of embossed designs to choose from. Though these will be from the higher end price of invitations.

Though elegant wedding invitations need not be only for formal affairs, this is more likely so. One thing to remember is that wedding etiquette states that if the ceremony and/or reception is to be black-tie, this must be noted on the card. Elegant or not, any invitation should tell guests what they need to know about the wedding event, from the date to the location to the “Reception to follow.”
